Tasting Note

Il Leo has vibrant and generous aromas reminiscent of violet and cherry with a well-balanced palate, positioned between a traditional rustic Chianti and a modern fruit-led style of wine.

Product Notes

Ruffino Il Leo Chianti Superiore is an enticing Italian red wine boasting a vibrant ruby colour and emanating an aromatic bouquet of red fruits, dusky spices, and subtle hints of oak. This wine offers a harmonious blend of traditional and contemporary wine styles, featuring Sangiovese grapes, which lend a bright acidity and refined tannins to the palate. The opulent taste showcases layers of ripe cherries, starch plums and a hint of vanilla, leading to a protracted and balanced finish. Best savoured with Italian cheeses, red meat dishes or hearty pasta, Ruffino Il Leo Chianti Superiore captivates even the most discerning of wine lovers.

About the Winery

Emerging from the heart of the Tuscan countryside is the internationally renowned Ruffino Winery. First established in 1877 by two dedicated cousins, Ilario and Leopoldo Ruffino, the winery has, over the years, etched its name deeply into the lineage of Italy's premier wine producers.
