About Torre Mora

Torre Mora is a distinctive Sicilian wine estate situated on the lower northeastern slopes of Mount Etna, where volcanic soils and a unique mountain climate create exceptional conditions for viticulture. Acquired in 2016, the estate is the latest addition to the portfolio of Piccini 1882, the historic Tuscan family-owned wine company renowned for its Chianti heritage. Torre Mora represents the family's expansion into one of Italy's most exciting and distinctive wine regions, with a focus on expressing the remarkable character of Etna's volcanic terroir.

The estate comprises 13 hectares of vineyards planted at elevations between 600 and 700 metres above sea level. Here, shallow volcanic soils, just 30–40 centimetres deep, lie directly over solid basalt, providing a challenging yet rewarding environment for the vines. The vineyards, with vines aged approximately 12–15 years, benefit from significant temperature variations between day and night, helping to preserve freshness, aromatic complexity and elegance in the finished wines.

Torre Mora specialises in indigenous Sicilian grape varieties, particularly Nerello Mascalese, which forms the backbone of its three red wines, complemented by small proportions of Nerello Cappuccio. Nerello Mascalese is also used exclusively for the estate's still rosato and its distinctive Chiuse, a zero-dosage sparkling rosé produced using the traditional Metodo Classico method. Completing the portfolio is an Etna Bianco crafted from Carricante, the region's celebrated native white grape.

Combining traditional grape varieties with modern winemaking expertise, Torre Mora produces wines that capture the mineral intensity, freshness and unmistakable volcanic identity of Mount Etna.
