About Veuve Ambal

The association of widows or ‘veuves’ and sparkling wine extends beyond Champagne, south into Burgundy where Veuve Ambal, the leading producer of Crémant de Bourgogne, is located. Its story began in 1898, when Marie Ambal, following the death of her Parisian banker husband, returned to her home village of Rully in Côte Chalonnaise to pursue her family’s involvement in wine.

Today, the maison continues to be run by the same family, with 6th generation Aurélien Piffaut now at the helm. With 230 hectares of vineyards in Burgundy, Veuve Ambal is one of the most pristine wineries in the region.
