About the Winery

Nestled in the picturesque Bordeaux region of France, Château Haut-Bergey winery stands as a monument of elegant architecture, amongst lush vineyards and breathtaking landscapes. A conversion of a stunning 17th-century property, the estate spans a notable 26.5 hectares, 22 of which are dedicated to vineyards where both red and white wine varietals are cultivated.

Unique to the wine domain is the microclimate that facilitates the growth of high-quality grapes. The gravelly soil, generous sunshine coupled with a moderate maritime climate, all serve to nurture an enviable bouquet of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot grapes.

Since its take over in 1991 by Sylviane Garcin-Cathiard, Château Haut-Bergey's the viticulture skills and wine-making acumen of the proprietor has been consolidated. There's been focused attention on limited yields, to encourage richness in flavour and intensity, but without compromising the inherent character of the grape. Taste a glass and you'll find rich, intense flavours coupled with the perfect balance of sweetness and acidity.

The charm of Château Haut-Bergey does not simply lie within its wine offerings. Visitors can also appreciate the historical significance of the property through their fully restored 2,000-year-old olive trees and Roman fish pond. Additionally, a guided tour of the vineyards, wine-making facilities and the beautiful hand-dug, 2.5 km long cellar makes for a truly memorable wine-tasting experience.

On a side note, the owners are great animal lovers. They even have set up a private zoo on the property which houses a variety of species both rare and common?
