Product Notes

The Château de Pez Saint-Estèphe wine exudes the elegance of classic French wine heritage. This ruby-red beverage originates from Bordeaux's oldest domaines in the heart of Saint-Estèphe. It boasts a mature palate imbued with lush blackcurrant and fresh, bright plum, exquisitely interlaced with notes of earthy truffle and smoky, subtle oak. Full-bodied and rich, the chateau's deftly balanced tannins produce a beautifully refined, long finish. This vintage offers an opulent, multisensory journey that titillates the taste buds and leaves a royal impression. The Château de Pez is more than just a wine; it's a grand expression of French viticulture.

Tasting Notes

The bouquet of this wine expresses notes of blackcurrant, cherry and liquorice as well as a hint of minerals. Rich and complex, this wine maintains the balance between density and harmony, power and refinement, race and the precision of its tannins.

About the Winery

Cháteau de Pez

Nestled in Saint-Estèphe, the northern part of the Médoc region of Bordeaux, lies the oldest winery in the region, Château de Pez. Steeped in rich history, this winery extends over a vast domain of 26 hectares, creating an inviting ambiance that soothes the soul while stimulating the senses.

Established in the 15th century by Jean de Briscos, the winery has seen a sundry of owners, including the infamous Jean-Jacques d’Abbadie, a knight and infamous astrologer. Ownership shifted to the Pontac family in the 18th century who, remarkably, had started the Bordeaux wine trade years prior.

Château de Pez’s vineyards are sporadically positioned across a variety of meticulous terroir unique to Saint-Estèphe: gravel, clay and limestone, The vineyards are predominantly planted with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grape varietals, which account for the unparalleled taste of it's lush wines. The Château also flourishes by following the Bordeaux tradition of blending grape varietals, resulting in two unique flavours: Château de Pez and Les Hauts de Pez, which continually impress and appeal to sommeliers and connoisseurs around the globe.

The winemaking process here remains as traditional and meticulous as ever. Large wooden vats are used for the fermentation process, following by a maturation period in oak barrels. This process aids in infusing each bottle of wine with indulgent aromas and distinct flavours.

Another noteworthy facet of Château de Pez is its stunning château, which was beautifully renovated in the 18th century. Aesthetically pleasing, the château boasts a serene atmosphere; visitors are captivated by its allure. The tasting rooms offer a sophisticated sampling experience that is both memorable and exquisite.

Château de Pez encapsulates heritage, excellent wine, and a unique. It certainly deserves to be on every wine lovers' bucket list. From the first glimpse of the elegant château to the last sip of its enthralling wines, Château de Pez offers an enchanting journey through wine history.
