Valli Vineyards Gibbston Vineyard Pinot Noir is an exquisite expression of New Zealand wine-making, originating from the renowned region of Central Otago. It enchants its tasters with a sophisticated bouquet of wild berries, plum, and a hint of spice that paves the way for the indulgence to follow. The palate is a melange of ripe fruit flavours, perfectly balanced by fine-grained tannins and a lingering finish. With every delicate sip, one discovers the complex, layered undertones one associates with world-class Pinot Noir. A lovely surprise accompanying this delightful libation is its potential for ageability, offering an evolving tasting experience.

Tasting Notes

Deep garnet hue with a fascinating array of aromas from mineral and floral to earthy/animal and baking spice/wild thyme. The fruit shines through on the palate with bright cherry, blackberry and mulberry complimented by a rich earthy vein. The savoury characteristics from a cool and exceptionally low cropping vintage are sensational when married with the classic Gibbston silky, fine tannins and electric acidity. Perhaps our most intriguing Pinot to date from this vineyard with vine age playing an important role in capturing a special vintage. This punchy young wine gives immediate gratification but it has all the hallmarks of a wine that is very worthy of cellaring and will show even more exciting features for many years to come.

The Bannockburn Vineyard, on the other hand, yields grapes that contribute to the dark-fruit flavours and firm structure of their wines. Deeper into the heart of Central Otago, the Bendigo Vineyard embraces the extreme continental climate to develop depth and complexity in the grapes. Lastly, the Waitaki Vineyard, blesses the wines with high acidity and minerality due to its close proximity to the sea.
