Product Notes

Birichino Vin Gris Rosé wine is an intriguing Californian creation, offering a refreshing and zesty experience. With an attractive hue of delicate pink, its aroma beckons with a harmony of wild strawberries, ripe peaches and a subtle note of spice. On the palate, it's quite lively, marrying crisp acidity with flavours of red berries and hints of minerality. A gentle undertone of rose petals and a light, dry finish make this Rosé a delightful choice. Its elegant structure and balance make Birichino Vin Gris Rosé wine easy to enjoy on any occasion, but particularly fitting for light alfresco dining.

Tasting Notes

Aromas of stone fruits, hibiscus, and watermelon dominate the perfume of the Birichino Vin Gris. The ever delightful Cinsault contributes to the violet top note, and a small quantity of particularly fresh and vivid Vermentino from the Napa side of Carneros adding some zest. Entirely the product of a very gentle direct press, the Vin Gris is fermented to dryness in one long, sequential fermentation in stainless steel. This is a serious California rosé.

About the Winery

Birichino

Established in downtown Santa Cruz in 2008, Birichino Winery is a Californian wine blending wizard. Founded by lifelong friends and wine industry veterans, Alex Krause and John Locke, the winery is renowned for its compelling and subtly dynamic wines.

The creative pair craft their wines from vineyards of a certain charm and character, many of which were planted by the Italian immigrants to California’s shores. Working with a diverse array of grape varieties, mainly from century-old vineyards, offers impressive versatility.

Crafted with grapes that aren't subjected to over-ripening or excessive oak, Birichino wines exhibit a delightful freshness and finesse. The selection includes a diverse variety of wines, from still to sparkling and dessert wines. Their selection includes a classic Grenache, hauntingly fragrant Muscat Canelli, and crisp Chenin Blanc, They believe in minimal intervention, advocating a purist, traditional approach that captures the true essence of the grape and the unique Californian terroir.

Moreover, the winemakers at Birichino put a special emphasis on the use of native yeasts during production. These indigenous yeasts, present in the vineyards and winery, help in fermenting the juice into wine, contributing to the distinct, complex character each bottle imbues.
