Product Notes

Momento Mori's Bag of Bones Piquette wine is a captivating concoction from Victoria, Australia. Advertised as "low in alcohol, high in refreshment," it combines Muscat and Syrah grapes, marinated on a pile of previously pressed Pinot Noir and Chardonnay skins. An ancestor of natural winemaking, Piquette offers a gentle effervescence and palatable tartness that tickles your taste buds. The enticing aroma of red berries, sweet spice, and floral undertones leads to a smoother, fruit-forward palate. This unique, eco-friendly wine is fitting for both casual and refined gatherings. Making each sip a conversation starter, be prepared for a memorable drinking experience.

Tasting Notes

We included a fair proportion of whole bunches into ours and as most of our fruit is pressed very lightly anyway and so has a lot left to give. It has resulted in quite a “full’ and reasonably (by Piquette standards) complex drink that does not lack any interest. It sits at about 5.7 % Alcohol so has enough substance to stand tall with Pet-Nats while still being very refreshing because of the low alcohol – Momento Mori

About the Winery

Momento Mori

Nestled in the heart of Victoria's lush vineyards, Momento Mori winery is a hidden treasure waiting to be discovered. This family-owned operation has been producing fine wines with a dedication to minimal intervention methods for over a decade and, in their subtle way, have made an indelible mark on Australia's wine scene.

The essence of Momento Mori revolves around the Latin phrase meaning "Remember you must die," a polite reminder to savour life's fleeting moments and enjoy the world's gifts while we can, and what could be finer than a bottle of beautifully crafted wine? Their philosophy is deeply rooted in organic practices, focusing not on the manipulation of grapes, but rather allowing mother nature to do the talking.

Their offering is a remarkable array of small-batch wines including a delectable assortment of reds and whites that delight the palate with unique flavours. Reds are full-bodied and robust, with varying notes of berries and spices. Whites promise a fresh and vibrant experience, defined by their crisp acidity and fruity flavours, Each bottle is a labour of love, and drinking them is an experience in itself.

When it comes to winemaking, Momento Mori spares no expense when ensuring the quality and integrity of their wines. The owners, Dane Johns and Hannah Green, have a keen eye for detail and an unwavering commitment to producing wines of the highest calibre. And with every sip, you can taste the passion and dedication poured into each and every bottle.

Yet, there's more to Momento Mori than wine, behind the scenes, environmental conservation lies at the heart of the winery's operations. Committed to producing wine as naturally as possible, Momento Mori is fervently dedicated to reducing their environmental footprint, making their wines not only delicious but also conscious.
