With an elegant bouquet of rich cherry, plum, and earthy undertones, this Chilean red concoction is a pleasure to one's olfactory senses. The palate receives a decadent mix of sweet, ripe fruit and floral overtones with subtle hints of oak and vanilla. A medium-bodied wine, it boasts balanced acidity and well-structured tannins, leading to a satisfying long finish. This tantalising tipple truly captures the essence of the Maipo Valley, beautifully embodying the sophistication of old-world wines. It's indeed a delightful choice for refined palates.

Tasting Notes

This garnet-colored wine stands out on the nose for its touches of ripe black fruit, such as plum and cherry, continuing with red paprika, saline notes, leather and wood. On the palate it has a soft and sweet entry, with silky tannins and hints of tobacco. It has a medium acidity that provides freshness thanks to the Syrah it contains, and has a long and persistent finish.

The cellars, designed by a French engineer over a century ago, still host the hallowed French barriques. The winery operates with a keen environmental conscience too; scrupulously adopting modern viticulture practices, utilising drip irrigation, and favouring organic manure over the synthetic variants.

Surrounded by snow-tipped Andean mountains, our vineyards are strategically placed to produce wines with qualities representative of the region’s unique terroir. The bestowing of the Maipo Valley’s idyllic climatic conditions yields matured fruit with firm, complex flavours, and the right balance of acidity; perfect for making world-class wines constantly enchanting oenophiles across the globe.

Trailing through fragrant vines laden with churning clusters of grapes, marvelling at the Edouard-designed cellar - a visit to Cousiño Macul winery is not just about tasting the finest Chilean wine, but rather a confluence of enduring tradition substantial history; and responsible innovation.
