About Balfour
Located on the historic Hush Heath Estate near Staplehurst in Kent, England, Balfour Winery is one of the country's leading producers of both sparkling and still wines. The estate has been owned by the Balfour-Lynn family for three generations, with the modern winery founded in 2002 when Leslie and Richard Balfour-Lynn planted the first vineyards with the ambition of creating a world-class English rosé sparkling wine.
Their vision was realised when Balfour Brut Rosé, made from the inaugural 2004 harvest, became the first English wine to win a Gold Medal and Trophy at the International Wine Challenge in 2007, establishing Balfour as a pioneer of English wine. Today, the estate encompasses around 400 acres of vineyards, orchards and ancient woodland, producing more than 400,000 bottles annually.
While its reputation was built on traditional-method sparkling wines crafted from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, Balfour has also gained acclaim for elegant still wines, including Bacchus, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, combining innovation with a distinctly English sense of place
