About Domaine de La Tour du Bon
Domaine de la Tour du Bon rests on a sunny, high-altitude clay-limestone plateau in Le Castellet, tucked into the northern edge of Provence’s Bandol AOC. Overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, the 14-hectare vineyard benefits from cooling maritime breezes, sweeping sunshine, and nutrient-rich red clay soils.
Named after an ancient watchtower that once guarded the hilltop, the historic polyculture farm bottled its first vintage under the estate label in 1955. The Henry family (Hocquart-Henry) purchased the property in 1968, expanding the vineyard plantings. Today, it is owned and operated by winemaker Agnès Henry, who took over management in 1990 and transitioned the estate to organic and biodynamic viticulture.
Mourvèdre reigns supreme here, supported by Grenache, Cinsault, Carignan, and Clairette. The estate produces:
Bandol Rouge: Rich, structured, and age-worthy red led by Mourvèdre.
Bandol Rosé: Elegant, gastronomic, and mineral-driven.
En Sol: A unique, non-conforming Mourvèdre aged in terracotta amphorae (tinajas)
