About Tenuta Valdipiatta

Tenuta Valdipiatta, in the heart of the Vino Nobile zone, is run by Miriam Caporali, who took over from her father, Giulio Caporali, in 2002. Giulio originally purchased the Montepulciano estate at the end of the 1980s. In 2010, Miriam brought in top Bordeaux oenologist Eric Boissenot, who also consults for Châteaux Lafite, Latour, Margaux and Palmer, to aid the winemaking process.

The estate comprises 30 hectares, 22 of which are planted under vine primarily with Sangiovese, known locally as ‘Prugnolo Gentile’ in Montepulciano. The Vino Nobile is elegant and supple, with refreshing acidity and great structure. The ‘Vigna d’Alfiero’ Montepulciano hails from one of the estate's oldest single vineyards, where the first farmer working on the estate, Alfiero Carpini, planted vines. The soil here is clay with some volcanic deposits, creating a silky, elegant wine.
