Wine tasting notes

Rich, deep brown. Nutty rancio and complex raisined fruit. Complex raisined fruit well integrated with the nutty oak flavours giving a well balanced clean taste.

Expert reviews

Wine Advocate/Robert Parker (NV) - 94 pts

June 2011 - Lisa Perrotti-Brown - The NV Grand Rutherglen Muscat gives a medium-deep brown color and profound scents of dried figs, raisin cake, burnt sugar, licorice, preserved walnuts and black pepper with just a whiff of menthol. Incredibly full, densely packed and sweet in the mouth, is has crisp, balancing acidity and a very long spicy finish. Drink it now.

JancisRobinson.com (NV) - 17.5 pts

Feb 2012 - Dark brown. Heady floral nose. Sweetness completely trumps the acidity and rancio. Lively and racy despite all that maturity.

James Halliday (NV) - 96 pts

Jan 2015 - Intense leather, malt, black tea and burnt honey flavours with brighter notes of dried orange peel and apricot. Dense, dark Christmas cake character, in-shot with roasted nuts. They release these treasures each year; they're raved over routinely; they must never be taken for granted.

Tyson Stelzer (NV) - 98 pts

April 2013 - Nothing short of a revelation. Black in hue with a gold rim, crammed with remarkable aromas of black olives and fruit cake spice, yet retaining consummate freshness and poise. It’s the focus and definition of the palate that set this apart as the finest Grand in Rutherglen right now, brilliantly poised and remarkably integrated, with fig, marmalade and fruit cake spice lingering to eternity.
