About Domaine Louis Michel & Fils

Founded in 1850, Domaine Louis Michel et Fils is one of the historic family estates of Chablis in northern Burgundy. Now led by the sixth generation, Guillaume Michel, the domaine remains entirely family owned and is renowned for producing some of the region's purest expressions of Chardonnay. The estate cultivates around 25 hectares of vineyards on the celebrated Kimmeridgian limestone soils surrounding Chablis, including holdings in prestigious Grand Cru vineyards such as Les Clos, Grenouilles and Vaudésir, as well as several highly regarded Premier Cru sites including Montée de Tonnerre, Butteaux, Forêts and Montmain.

The Michel family has long championed a minimalist approach to winemaking, believing that great wine is made in the vineyard. For more than four decades, all wines have been fermented and matured exclusively in stainless steel tanks, with no oak influence, allowing the distinctive mineral character, precision and freshness of each terroir to shine through. This philosophy has earned the domaine an international reputation for elegant, age-worthy Chablis that faithfully reflect their origins. Alongside its Grand and Premier Crus, the range also includes classic Chablis and Petit Chablis, offering exceptional purity and finesse across every level. Today, Domaine Louis Michel et Fils remains one of Chablis' benchmark producers, combining over 170 years of family tradition with a steadfast commitment to authentic, terroir-driven wines.
