About Domaine Thibert
Domaine Thibert is a family-owned estate based in Fuissé, at the heart of the Mâconnais in southern Burgundy. The Thibert family has deep roots in the region, with records of the family in Fuissé dating back several centuries. The modern domaine was established in 1967 by Andrée and René Thibert with only a small area of vines. Over the following decades they steadily expanded the property, building a reputation for precise, terroir-focused expressions of Chardonnay.
Today the estate is run by the next generation, brother and sister Christophe and Sandrine Thibert. Christophe oversees the vineyards and winemaking, while Sandrine manages the commercial and administrative side of the domaine. Together they have developed the estate to around 30 hectares, spread across some of the finest sites of the southern Mâconnais.
The domaine is particularly associated with Pouilly-Fuissé, but its extensive range also includes Pouilly-Vinzelles, Pouilly-Loché, Saint-Véran, Viré-Clessé, Mâcon-Fuissé and Crémant de Bourgogne. Individual vineyard parcels are frequently vinified separately, allowing differences in limestone, clay, exposure and elevation to be clearly expressed. Important cuvées include wines from celebrated Fuissé terroirs such as Les Cras and Les Ménétrières.
Domaine Thibert places considerable emphasis on careful vineyard management, low yields and precise harvesting. In the cellar, fermentation and maturation are adapted to each vineyard, using a combination of stainless steel and oak rather than following a single formula. The resulting wines combine ripe Chardonnay fruit with freshness, mineral definition and finely judged texture. The top Pouilly-Fuissé bottlings are particularly structured and complex, demonstrating both the quality and ageing potential of the Mâconnais’ finest terroirs.
