Tasting Note

A wine with distinct Mediterranean character, with a good fruit intensity of green apples, pear and peach alongside floral notes of rosemary. A fresh, slightly saline finish.

Product Notes

Can Sumoi Ancestral Montònega is an exceptional Spanish sparkling wine hailing from the Penedes region. Made organically by renown winemakers, it's a delicate blend using only Montònega grapes, exuding subtle apple and citrus aromas. The wine employs ancestral methods for a secondary fermentation in the bottle, resulting in a natural carbonation and cloudy appearance. It bursts forth with invigorating freshness and a candid complexity, light texture, beautifully balanced acidity and a fine effervescence that dances on the palate. Ancestral Montònega encapsulates the charm of Can Sumoi vineyards, making it an ideal partner for seafood or standalone apéritif.

About the Winery

Can Sumoi

Founded in 2016, Can Sumoi is the vision of childhood friends Pepe Raventós of Raventós i Blanc and Francesc Escala, who shared a long-held ambition to produce exceptional still wines in their native Catalonia. Their dream became reality after discovering a neglected 17th-century estate high in the mountains of western Penedès, which they carefully restored into a thriving vineyard and winery. The 400-hectare estate, situated 600 metres above sea level, is largely surrounded by woodland, creating a unique natural ecosystem and an ideal environment for sustainable viticulture. Just 20 hectares are planted with indigenous varieties including Xarel·lo, Parellada, Montònega and Sumoll on fossil-rich limestone soils.
