Tasting Note

A deep ruby red in colour, this wine boasts intense aromas of red and black cherry and blackcurrant, complemented by heady spicy notes of sage and clove and tobacco. The palate full-bodied and rich, brought into balance by structured tannins and an lifted mineral finish.

Product Notes

Domaine Chevrot Santenay Rouge 1er Cru Clos Rousseau is a delightful French red wine hailing from the Santenay region in Burgundy. This exceptional premier cru is predominantly noted for its classy, graceful, and elegantly balanced flavours. Made from the finest handpicked Pinot Noir grapes, it boasts a multidimensional bouquet laden with ripe cherries, sappy red berries, and a gentle touch of earthiness. Swirling this wine in your glass reveals an enchanting ruby colour, while tasting uncovers layers of complexity, characterised by sweet tannins and a refreshing acidity for a prolonged, satisfying finish. A perfect accompaniment to red meat dishes and age-worthy cheeses.

About the Winery

Domaine Chevrot

Located just 10 kilometres south of Puligny- and Chassagne-Montrachet, Maranges is increasingly recognised for its quality and value. Domaine Chevrot, recommended early on by Jane Eyre, is based in the heart of the appellation and run by brothers Pablo and Vincent Chevrot, who took over from their parents in 2007 after gaining experience in Bordeaux and Central Otago. Certified organic, the 19-hectare estate is farmed according to regenerative principles, with horse-drawn ploughing and the use of larger-format oak helping to refine the style. These efforts have established Domaine Chevrot as one of Maranges’ leading producers, earning two stars in La Revue du Vin de France’s 2024 guide.
