Product Notes

Benanti Contrada Calderara Sottana Etna Rosso is a captivating Sicilian red wine, appreciated for its exquisite complexity and depth. Grown on volcanic soils of Mount Etna, this wine unfolds delightful aromas of red berries, wild herbs, and distinct mineral undertones. The palate reveals layers of black cherries, earthy tones, and subtle hints of smoky spice, all carried effortlessly by fine-grained tannins. Its firm structure and refreshing acidity make for a balanced, yet intense drinking experience. Matured for 12 months in French oak barrels, this Etna Rosso is an elegant testament to the richness of Italian viticulture. Perfect for sophisticated wine enthusiasts.

About the Winery

Benanti

Benanti is one of the pioneering wineries of Mount Etna and has played a defining role in the revival of Sicily's fine wine industry. Although the Benanti family's roots in Sicily date back to 1734, the modern winery was established in 1988 by Giuseppe Benanti, whose vision was to demonstrate the exceptional potential of Etna's indigenous grape varieties and volcanic terroir. Today, the family-owned estate is managed by Giuseppe's sons, Antonio and Salvino Benanti, who continue to build on their father's legacy.
